This Sunday the Roc City Boom return to play RNYFC Academy after their disappointing draw against the Sahara Gunners. They will hope the return of Peter DiLorenzo will help them progress and put up a better performance than last week.
This will be RNYFC Academy’s first game of the season and also their first game in UPSL as they are newcomers to the league. The Boom will have the upper hand in terms of competitive match readiness and with more experience in the league, they know how to win.
For any Rochester soccer fans who watched the RNYFC first team’s MLS Next Pro season, you might recognize Brennan McDermott who made the bench six times last season, including a short 5 minute appearance against Philadelphia Union II. Unfortunately, he is unlikely to feature due to shin soreness.
This game will also be the only Rochester derby of the season so the players should have more than enough incentive to show up and perform.
On paper, the Boom are coming into this game as the favorites, though there is a lot of mystery around this RNYFC Academy team so it’s absolutely possible that they can come out and shock. It all goes down on Sunday, April 23, at Eastridge High School at 4 pm.
