This Sunday Roc City Boom will play FC Invictus away to VVS Stadium in Verona, NY at 3pm. This will be the Boom’s third match of the season after their two draws against the Sahara Gunners FC and city rivals RNYFC Academy. Invictus have only played one match so far this season coming against FCY New York which they lost 5-3.
The Boom will be without their star player Peter DiLorenzo as it is confirmed that he tore his ACL against RNYFC. Even though he went on to score the two goals to save the point for the Boom, he will be out for the rest of the season. Coach Marc Mandell will hope that the return of Hungarian striker Tamas Nagy will help to make up for the loss of goals that will come with the absence of DiLorenzo.
Historically, Tamas has been able to score a myriad of goals with the Boom and on other teams. In the 2022 UPSL season alone he scored 16 goals as well as having 11 assists in 20 starts. Outside of the Boom, Tamas has also shined brightly. He attends Roberts Wesleyan and scored 14 goals accompanied by 11 assists in 21 games played for the team in 2022 alone. Including a hattrick he scored against Molloy College.
This will be the first away game for the Boom this season and it will be interesting to see how that could affect the team as they look to achieve their first win of the season.
The Boom should again come into this game as the favorite. But as we’ve seen so far, nothing is a given, so the team will look to come out strong to prove their title credentials.
