Last Sunday Roc City Boom beat Invictus FC 2-1 away at VVS Stadium in Verona, NY. Boom finally got their first win after goals from Matthew Sawaged and Taner Bay.
It was a cold and depressing day in terms of the weather; throughout the whole game it was pouring rain, causing a slick surface and very few people willing to brave the elements to attend the match live.
Boom’s performance was still labored at times and the match, due in large part to the weather, was fairly slow. Though, in the end, they got the job done. With the squad having nearly all their players back from college, it is a step in the right direction.
This game also saw the introduction of newly signed Brian Wilkin who started in goal. Wilkins comes in after the injury of Gaurav Cheema which left a vacancy in the backup goalie position. This means Connor Halsted was dropped to the bench for the time being after conceding 4 goals in the opening two games.
The match also saw the return of George Amoh who was in Ghana for the first two games of the season.
Finally, Roc City Boom will have a quick turnaround game this Wednesday, May 3 when they will play United Elite Krajisnik FC FC away in Utica at Sal Longo Field as they look to keep their unbeaten record intact.
