Roc City Boom’s season is rapidly approaching and some major news has just emerged.
RCB will be playing in a new league for the upcoming season, moving from UPSL to NISA Nation, specifically the newly formed Upstate NY region of NISA Nation.
For people who pay attention to soccer in Rochester, the name “NISA” will probably sound familiar, because that is the organization that Flower City Union played under up until this upcoming season [Editor: Allegedly]. Though this does not mean they’re playing directly against them, NISA Nation has several different semi-professional regional leagues like the Eastern Premier Soccer League and the Cascadia Premier League which encompasses Washington and Oregon.
Former Roc City Boom star Peter Di Lorenzo gave his opinion of this move, “I think it’s great for the club. NISA Nation is gonna have a great conference with Upstate NY. It’s going to allow some great competition and allow the teams to play more and compete at a better level. It was time for a change for not just the Boom but other teams as well. The UPSL was too focused on adding teams and not keeping the competition up. I wish I could be on the field with the boys this year as (they) start a new journey, and wish them the best of luck!”
Hungarian star Tamas Nagy also gave his thoughts on joining NISA Nation saying “Good opportunity for RCB.”
Finally, head coach Marc Mandell shared, “Our goal with Roc City Boom is to create a platform for players to showcase their abilities with the hopes of making it to the next level. NISA is a quality organization and we are thrilled to be able to compete at a highly competitive level. Joining NISA Nation will unlock a lot of true talent for our club and will present a new challenge, one that our club has been waiting for.”
There is a lot of excitement from everyone connected to the organization but only time will tell how the new league will look and how it will affect the Boom.
